Abstract

For chromosomes which show bidirectional replication it is proposed that both replicating forks (which are proceeding genetically in opposite directions) remain bound together in a single complex. The interesting topological results of this proposition with respect to the ease with which multiple initiations on the same replicon and segregation of daughter chromosomes can occur are illustrated.
