Abstract
Abstract Prof. D. A. Brown, Geology Department, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, has kindly drawn my attention to the fact that the name Carinella proposed for a Permian gastropod genus by Waterhouse (1963) is already occupied. According to Neave (1939, p. 587) Carinella was first used by Johnston for a genus of Vermes and it has also been applied to genera of Mollusca and Polyzoa. I therefore rename the Permian gastropod Bicarinella.
