Abstract

The library is a fundamental environment for the compilation of information, the spread of knowledge and the dissemination of culture, providing benefits such as the development of skills, creativity and the promotion of health. Despite the countless benefits of contacting books through libraries, there are still weaknesses in the democratization of access. Thus, in order to expand access to reading and its benefits, itinerant libraries were developed. In this sense, this work aims to describe experiences identified in the literature on itinerant and public libraries developed by projects as a health promotion strategy and impact on quality of life. An integrative literature review was carried out through the Virtual Health Library, PubMed and Google Scholar, 9 studies were analyzed that met the established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Despite the benefits of itinerant libraries to expand reading opportunities, it is necessary to encourage the creation and expansion of this type of library, to expand contact with the book, promoting learning, entertainment and health promotion.
