Abstract

Women’s entrepreneurship is a topic that has garnered significant attention from researchers and is becoming increasingly important. Research shows that entrepreneurial activity is particularly high in more developed countries. However, the significance of entrepreneurship extends beyond developed nations to encompass less developed ones as well. The role of women in entrepreneurship stands as a pivotal issue requiring examination in the context of economic development and gender equality. Therefore, it is paramount to diversify research on women's entrepreneurship and provide support for studies in this field. The main purpose of this study is to examine and evaluate articles on women’s entrepreneurship in the Web of Science (WoS) database using bibliometric analysis. The study includes 4301 articles on women’s entrepreneurship published in the WoS database between 1990 and 2023. To achieve this goal, the articles were analyzed by year of publication, language, country, and other relevant factors. According to the main results obtained from the study, it was found that the highest number of articles were published in 2022, with the majority of them being written in English. The results of the study have revealed that the number of publications on women’s entrepreneurship in the Turkic republics of Central Asia is significantly inadequate. These findings underscore the imperative to broaden the academic literature on women’s entrepreneurship in the region and attract more attention to it.
