Abstract

ABSTRACT Utilizing the Scopus database, this interdisciplinary bibliometric study delved into the intricate relationship between income inequality and public health. A descriptive analysis of research articles published from 1993 to 2022 targeted 371 top-tier public health journals, yielding 1154 articles. Notably, a surge in the number of publications and citations occurred from 2017 to 2022. Primary research foci of income inequality in top journals focused on mortality, obesity, and oral health, while recent investigations centered on COVID-19 and environmental justice, revealed through network visualization. Despite valuable insights, the study advocates for expanded interdisciplinary efforts, and broader geographical coverage.
