Abstract

The study investigates the scientific performance in the field of ‘NANOTECHNOLOGY’; the focal point of study remained the production, impact and collaboration. This study aims to map the co-authorship, co-occurrence, citation, bibliographic coupling, co-citation, and co-occurrence. The tools used for bibliometric data analysis were HistCite, “HistCite is a software package used for bibliometric analysis and information visualization, developed by Eugene Garfield” and VOSviewer, a software package for bibliometric networking and visualization. An underlying corpus of publications was extracted from the Science Citation Index Expanded database (SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI, A&HCI) through relevant keywords. Lexical search in the titles has identified 7037 relevant articles for the period 1996-2020. Only articles of the document type “article” were taken into consideration. The study found that “JOURNAL OF NANOPARTICLE RESEARCH” was the leading journal having maximum records/articles 83 with total global citations (TGCS) 2684. Similarly, among authors “Roco MC” was ranked at first in terms of several articles contributed 8 records with TGCS 495 but on the other hand, the highest cited articles were found by “Farokhzad OC” TGCS 893 “Langer R” TGCS 893 “Shi JJ” TGCS 893 and “Votruba AR” TGCS 893. Moreover, in institution ranking MIT was ranked the first rank followed by Harvard. This study is helpful for any researcher of Nanotechnology, Bibliometrics, Scientometrics and Information Sciences to understand research trends, scholarly output in terms of production, impact and collaboration.
