Abstract

This bibliography contains a list of reference books, articles, and other works relevant to the study of the history of the early modern news trade in Europe. News - as both subject matter and means of dissemination - is interpreted broadly and from a wide variety of perspectives. The collection offers a number of case studies of particular moments, places, and forms of news, each of which offers wider insights into the nature and development of the business from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries. There had been a market for news in print since the very beginnings of the print trade. Occasional news pamphlets - also known as Neue Zeitungen , occasionnels , and relaciones - remained popular until at least the end of the seventeenth century. Keywords: early modern news trade; news pamphlets; print trade
