Abstract

An algorithm based upon reference and citation links is shown to improve effectiveness in compiling a bibliography on a cross-disciplinary medical subject area. Sets of documents are generated and compared to a set of documents identified by researchers as being relevant to their informational needs. The result is a rank ordered list of documents as they relate to the chosen entry document. The algorithm is described as a generalized technique applicable to any cross-disciplinary informational query which has as its objective the compilation of a bibliography of pertinent documents.
