Abstract

Algorithms based on biasing data entering a square law terminal error penalty function are synthesized for the optimal control problem with terminal restraints at a fixed time. A development leads to basic, interpolative, and control compensated-bias updating strategies with progressively improved performance compared with existing methods demonstrated from computational results. The new algorithms are related to existing methods based on penalty weight updating, the modified method of multipliers, adjoint system and isoperimetric formulations.
