Abstract

Stabilization of the operating point of optical amplitude modulators is a necessary condition in achieving good analogue signal conversion with low harmonic content. Work described here shows how this has been achieved with a closed-loop feedback system operating at low radio frequency. The technique is simple and cost effective and is envisaged to be easily applied to a range of data transmission situations in which translation into other formats might not be straightforward.
