Abstract

Nowadays, the requirements for plant lighting for plant growth are becoming stronger. Under excitation of ultraviolet light 200–350 nm, Bi3+ and Mn4+ doped La2MgGeO6 phosphors can emit blue and red, respectively. By co-doping, blue-red emission can be achieved, which can be used in agricultural production. Based on energy transfer from Bi3+ to Mn4+, the luminescence intensity of Mn4+ can be doubled. The transfer efficiency of Bi3+ to Mn4+ increases linearly with the increase of Mn4+ concentration. The blue/red intensity ratio can be adjusted to meet the different needs of different plants by changing the doping concentrations of Bi3+ and Mn4+. Our research indicates that Bi3+ and Mn4+ co-activate blue-red phosphors have potential applications in agricultural production.
