Abstract

The technique for stabilizing the mandible using the bi‐phase external splint is described. Considerations for the use of external skeletal fixation on the mandible are reviewed. Two severe mandibular fracture cases and 1 case of unilateral mandibular body excision for the treatment of oral neoplasia are presented. Excellent results have been obtained by using the bi‐phase splint in dogs of moderate to large size.
