Abstract

SECURITY OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND IN THE SCOPE OF ROAD TRANSPORT: POLAND AND THE EUROPEAN UNION All countries implement their own policies in the scope of protection from threats, both external and internal. The policies include the security of transport, including road transport. The development of road transport is a necessary condition of every country’s economic and civilizational growth. Security depends, in particular, on securing stability and internal harmony of a state by means of protecting and multiplying goods that constitute the greatest value for the country and its citizens. It refers to the following: population, territory, system of power. The transport and road traffic security system is developed by all entities, institutions and organizations, as well as services operating in various fields of the transport sector of the economy. Following Poland’s accession to the European Union, the country has obtained financial support which has enabled effective growth of the road transport sector and modernization of road infrastructure. Although the development of road transport in Poland is optimistic, it carries certain threats connected with loss of live or health. The said threats constitute a priority challenge for the policies of individual countries, the European Union and the modern world.
