Abstract
ABSTRACT Utilizing data from listed companies in China between 2016 and 2022, we find an inverted U-shaped relationship between government procurement and firms’ digital transformation. Mechanism tests reveal that moderate government procurement promotes firms’ R&D investment and patent output, while excessive government procurement constrains firms’ innovation performance, affecting the transformation of technological innovations and ultimately hindering firms’ digital transformation.
