Abstract
This paper discusses why it is problematic to ask minorities still to remain invisible while their rights and differences are supposedly recognized and respected in general. If the subject is postulated as the solipsistic I who cannot be infringed by anything else, others would be relegated to be excluded and alienated. However, seen from the postmodernist concept of subjectivity, these others are the condition for subject construction. Therefore, what is important is to acknowledge that being damaged by others is the very condition of human life. Beyond the recognition of diversity, our awareness of the others in multicultural societies should be based on the respect and solidarity derived from the ethicality of the self, constructed in relations with others.</br></br> Key Words: multiculturalsocieties, diversity, self, others, ethicality
