Abstract

Those who were unable to breastfeed felt guilty about not being able to provide breast milk to their baby and sad about being denied the experience of breastfeeding. This was ameliorated by unambiguous and non-judgemental infant feeding advice given by supportive and reassuring midwives. Conclusion: This study found that most women diagnosed with GBC wish to breastfeed and demonstrates the importance of responsive midwifery care relating to infant feeding for women in this predicament.
