Abstract

The Bethe-Salpeter formulation for the quark model hadronic weak decays of baryons is carried out, and the magnitude of the amplitudes is evaluated directly in the instantaneous approximation with an oscillator potential. Agreement with the experimental values is obtained after consideration of the short-distance enhancement factor. The effect of the relativistic motion of the quarks turns out to be small (15% reduction) for the non-leptonic decays.
