Abstract
In context of Machine Type Communication (MTC) applications, network has to face increased load as well as possible surges of MTC traffic due to massive concurrent data and signaling transmission, in which case the interarrival time distribution of MTC devices may follow Beta distribution. In this paper, we model the network with MTC applications as a Beta/M/1 queue model. By deducing the moment generation function's analytical expression of Beta distributions with integral shape parameters, the full performance analysis of Beta/M/1 model is presented. The conclusions drawn from numerical analysis can be used as a preliminary guide to appropriately choose the model for different MTC application scenarios and promptly judge the effectiveness of the chosen model.
