Abstract

The energy loss function Im (-1⧸ ϵ) of Bismuth was determined by energy loss experiments with 60 keV electrons. By means of Kramers-Kronig analysis the complex dielectric constant ϵ = ϵ 1 + iϵ 2 has been calculated. The results are compared with data derived from optical and energy loss experiments of various authors.
