Abstract

In this Research Article, we reported a eutectic electrolyte consisting of ethylene glycol (EG) and ZnCl2. A deep eutectic electrolyte (ZnCl2-4EG) composed of EG and ZnCl2 for dendrite-free zinc anodes has been reported in a previous study by Mun and co-workers,1 which was not cited in our article. In Ref. [1], the electrolyte was prepared in air and therefore contained a certain amount of water. The residual water led to an anodic limit of ≈1.24 V vs. standard hydrogen electrode (SHE), which is close to the anodic limit of water (≈1.23 V vs. SHE). In our article, the DES-4 eutectic electrolyte is almost free of water, and has an anodic limit of ≈2.39 V vs. SHE.
