This study focuses on the Russian modernist attraction to Bergson's notions of duration and intuition, his unbridled optimism in both art and life, and his belief in the individual's creative power to perceive and participate in a constantly changing, dynamic universe. In an intriguing conclusion that addresses present-day concerns, Fink explores the significance of Bergsonian thought for post-Communist Russia as it continues its creative evolution into the next century.
