Abstract

Abstract At the 76th anniversary meeting of the »Geologiska Föreningen i Stockholm.» Professor N. H. Kolderup of Bergen announced the first Nordic geological meeting in Norway 1947 which would be marked by excursions in the Caledonides of Norway also. These exeursions included a journey through thc southern Norwegian Mountain Range from Finse to Bergen and a tour through the northern Trondheim field. The present paper contains a short review of the above mentioned tour in order to attention to the very important new works of Th. Vogt concerning the central part of the Trondheim field. He has given n detailed stratigraphical division of the Cambro-Silurian Series and their intercalating effusives of porphyrites and rhyolites. The new conceptions of Vogt also give a general correlation with the Scottish stratigraphy of the normal sediments and the voleanic strata which must be considered to a profound new division of the whole so callcd »Western Facies» (Törnebohm) of the Scandinavian Caledonides. The present writer intends at a later date to give a further summary concerning the Bergen Excursion.
