Abstract

Performance analyses on MIMO-OFDM systems with spatial correlation have been carried out before (Sadek et al., 2006). However, the effect of antenna mutual coupling (MC) on the performance of MIMO-OFDM systems has not been specifically studied. When antenna separation is small, the effect of the antenna MC on spatial correlation cannot be neglected. In this paper, a rigorous performance analysis of a MIMO-OFDM system under the influence of a changed correlation structure due to antenna MC effect is presented. Specifically, the bit-error-rate (BER) performance with the effect of antenna MC modelled using the receiving mutual impedance (Hui, 2004) are obtained and analysed.
