Abstract
As is well known, multiple-antenna systems can improve the reliability and maximize the spectral efficiency of radio channels. A way to measure the effectiveness of a multiple-antenna system is by evaluating the bit error rate (BER) for a specific channel. In this paper, we present BER calculations for a realistic channel simulation instead of assuming Rayleigh or Ricean fading with a specific -factor. Specifically, we extract statistics based on data from an in-house full-wave electromagnetic solver and proceed to obtain BER across the channel. Based on the developed tools, we demonstrate how one can increase the reliability of wireless systems.
