Abstract

To allow high data rates in multimedia services along with immunity against multipath fading and inter-symbol interference, single carrier frequency division multiple access (SCFDMA) on the basis of discrete cosine transform (DCT) has been introduced and become the most salient process for the uplink system. But high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is a major drawback of this system which cut down the RF power amplifiers performance. In this article, we analyze the bit error rate (BER) of this system and complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) using two efficacious-raised cosine (RC) filter and root raised cosine (RRC) filter for different subcarrier mapping techniques based on DCT likewise interleaved FDMA (DCT-IFDMA) and localized FDMA (DCT-LFDMA). Simulation experiments present that RRC pulse shaping is far more felicitous than RC filter as far as the better PAPR performance is desired and among the subcarrier schemes, DCT-IFDMA with root-raised cosine pulse shaping scheme is more efficacious to that of the other scheme.
