Abstract

Benzydamine is an active pharmaceutical compound (API) with anti-inflammatory effect widely used in oral affections. Its local application effectively reliefs pain, demonstrated by several studies which have shown analgesic and anaesthetic properties. Benzydamine mechanism of action has been deeply characterized on inflammatory cell types and mediators highlighting its capacity to inhibit pro-inflammatory mediator’s synthesis and release. On the other hand, the role of benzydamine as neuronal excitability modulator has been less explored.
