Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a state of chronic hyperglycemia accompanied by various metabolic disorders resulting from hormonal disorders. Therefore, complementary therapy is needed to lower the patient's blood sugar level, namely benson relaxation therapy which is a complementary therapy that can help patients to relax and calm down so that they can lower blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients. Objectives: to find out the effect of benson relaxation therapy on blood sugar levels in people with diabetes mellitus Methods: Types of experimental research using Quasi Experiment Design with one group pre test post test. With the population of people with diabetes mellitus type II in RSAL dr Mintohardjo, in this research as many as 15 respondents who fit the inclusion criteria. The test is done by used Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: The results showed that there is a significant difference between blood sugar levels before and after benson relaxation therapy. with a sig value of 0.002<0.05. Conclusion: There is an effect of benson relaxation therapy on blood sugar levels in patients with type II diabetes mellitus at Dr Mintohardjo Hospital.
