Abstract

The management of cultural heritage by public and private organizations has become a strategic factor for the preservation of organizational memory since memory has been perceived as an important factor for the reputation of organizations by demonstrating how values ​​and institutional mission can be Responsible, at different times, for strengthening the institutional image with the external public. Thus, the objective of this exploratory research is to analyze, from a case study, the management of cultural property in a military institution. The results show that the management carried out by the Navy occurs differently in relation to the other institutions that house cultural collections because its structure is based on the military hierarchy. In addition, the educational activities in cultural centers and museums are directed to all ages, and for internal and external audiences to the Navy as the purpose of expanding the maritime mentality of the population.
