Benign and Malignant Mucocele-Like Tumors of the Breast: Mammographic and Sonographic Appearances

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare the mammographic and sonographic appearances of benign and malignant mucocele-like tumors. The mammographic appearance of mucocele-like tumor of the breast is characterized as pleomorphic calcifications, often increasing in number. Microcalcifications in malignant mucocele-like tumors extended over a wider area than those in benign mucocele-like tumors. Sonography often shows cysts with calcified or noncalcified mural nodules.
