Abstract

Objective To evaluate the benefits of real-time three-dimensional echocardiography(RT3DE)in the assessment of prosthetic valve function. Methods RT-3DE was performed on 33 patients who underwent mechanical mitral valve replacement(19 cases),mitral bioprosthesis(3 cases)or aortic valve replacement(11 cases),to evaluate the prosthetic structure and hemodynamics. Results In 30 patients (91%),prosthetic structure could be clearly observed by RT-3DE,26 cases were in normal function,3 cases of peri-valvular 1eak and 1 case of infective endocarditis with bio-prosthetie leaflet perforation were observed. Conclusions RT-3DE iS feasible in evaluating the structure and function of the prosthetic valves and can provide more information than the routine two dimensional echocardiography. Key words: Echocardiography,real-time three-dimensional; Heart valve prosthesis
