Abstract

Active power loss reduction in distribution system is most important for power loss minimization in distribution system which results in simple operation and planning of distribution system. The main aim of this paper is to show the active or real power loss reduction in distribution system by network reconfiguration method which can be obtained by changing the configuration of the distribution system feeder from radial to closed loop. To evaluate the results first the real power loss equations were formulated and the loss reduction by feeder reconfiguration was investigated as per loss formulation. A numerical example with three radial feeders, which are thermally limited type, was designed for simulation under certain constraints. The changes in the voltage profile and loss reduction by using the feeder reconfiguration method was evaluated and compared.
