Abstract

In this paper, bending stress distributions in an infinite strip having two circular holes of equal radius symmetrically located with respect to the neutral axis, were studied theoretically under uniform bending moment. The solution was obtained in almost a similar way as in the case of the tension problem, but the method of perturbation was newly introduced. Factors of stress concentration and stresses along main parts of the strip were determined with numerical calculations, taking the distance between the neutral axis and the center of one hole as a quarter of the width of the strip, so as to clarify the effect of the hole in this problem.
