Abstract
Two recent studies in the business literature look at business school rankings. One describes the impact of MBA rankings on business school strategic planning while the other provides research rankings for 100 business schools and notes the difference in rankings between schools focusing on MBA rankings and research rankings. Using this as a starting point, in addition to AACSB requirements for research resources, the authors collected data from the business libraries and business library services for top business schools on both MBA and research rankings. The main purposes of this study are to identify patterns across ten library variables and within ranking systems and to discuss the strategic implications of these relationships for academic business librarians. Libraries are designated as Separate or Non-Separate and categorized into top or bottom based upon four ranking systems. Specific information regarding the observed differences on the ten variables is reported to provide benchmark data.
