Abstract

In the theoretical part, the mechanism is discussed of the action of x rays and gamma radiation on photographic emulsions to which the organic fluorescent substance pterphenyl was added. This addition was made to compensate for the energy dependence of the photographic dose response and to increase sensitivity. The consideration of the processes which produce photographic density permits qualitative and semiquantitative statements to be made, whereas a complete quantitative calculation is not possible because of the insufficient knowledge of some parameters.
