Abstract

I t was a cold January afternoon in Kathmandu, Nepal, in 2010. I was pleasantly surprised on receiving an e-mail from Professor Thomas Chacko, Director of the PSG-FAIMER Regional Institute, Coimbatore, India, inviting me to be a faculty member of the institute. I had joined the 2-year part-time fellowship in health sciences education and educational leadership in 2007, completing in 2009. Fellows develop a curriculum innovation project (CIP) and implement it in their home institution. There are three on-site sessions and two off-site ones, where learning occurs on the listserv. I had been active during the on-site sessions and on the listserv, submitting progress reports, moderating a monthly discussion and guiding successive groups of fellows. I felt happy that my contributions had been recognised.
