Abstract

AbstractA rare case of severe Behçet's disease in a young patient is presented. The patient unnecessarily suffered from the devastating effects of the disease as a result of a delay in diagnosis, and consequently, initiation of the appropriate treatment. However, once a diagnosis was made, he was successfully treated with large doses of corticosteroids together with azathioprine, warfarin and aspirin. We highlight the importance of oral examination in diagnosing systemic diseases.
