Abstract

The truss behaviour is studied for simulataneous stress and displacement constraints under single and multiple load conditions. It is shown that among the ( m + n) stress and displacement constraints of a design (in which member areas are variables) only m constraints are independent. The ( m + n) constraints should be segregated into dependent and independent sets in optimization.
