Abstract

AbstractThe paper shows the current trends in advanced modelling of joints and differences of the research oriented and design‐oriented models. The behaviour of the slender stiffeners in extended end‐plate joints is presented. The finite element method is employed to examine the resistance of a joint with an extended endplate connection. The FE model is validated to results of experimental tests and verified by an analytical solution based on existing formulas.
