Abstract
Abstract When your child has ADHD, the first step in a behaviour modification programme is to observe your child’s behaviour and identify the behaviour you want to change. One of the advantages of medication is that it allows children to be more successful in a behaviour modification programme. Should you need help when working on a behaviour modification programme, do not hesitate to consult your doctor and ask for a referral to a psychologist. This chapter describes behaviour modification in the management of ADHD, including encouraging good behaviour so it can be rewarded, how to reward good behaviour, how to discourage undesirable behaviour, and important considerations in a behaviour modification plan.
