Abstract

Problems during filling of the reservoir under frozen rock bed conditions and rock-fill dam body are examined. Thawing of the dam bed and body resulted in an incline in the direction of the upper pool, which in turn caused local opening of the joint between the concrete dam and the asphalt-concrete water wall, which is the water-impermeable core of the dam.
