Abstract

1. The resistance of flat-corrugated piles in the soil as calculated per unit of materials consumption for equal lengths and driving depths exceeds the resistance of prismatic piles by a factor of 1.4–1.7 and the resistance of wedge-shaped piles by a factor of 1.2–1.4. 2. It is advisable to use flat-corrugated piles in multirow pile foundations in sites consisting of sand soils. 3. The optimal arrangement of flat-corrugated piles in clusters occurs when the ratio of the perimeter of the pile cluster at the level of the maximum pile enlargements to the sum of the maximum perimeters of the individual piles in the cluster is not less than unity.
