Abstract

An oxophenarsine-resistant strain of T. equiperdum did not maintain itself in a mixture with its unmodified parent strain. The rate of disappearance of the resistant strain was related to the sojourn of the resistant strain in the rat, the resistant strain in its second rat passage disappearing more rapidly than the same strain in its 12th rat passage. A highly resistant strain maintained in rats lost most of its resistance between 6 and 8 months after it was removed from contact with the drug. The same strain maintained in mice continued to be highly resistant.
