Abstract

This paper proposes a ring model with air-gap to evaluate iron loss of steel sheet under sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal pulsed width modulation excitation with high harmonic content. B-H curves are measured under both DC and AC conditions. Iron loss is analyzed with varied frequency and flux density, then compared with Epstein model. The evaluation of iron losses with constant B peak value under non-sinusoidal excitation with varied frequency and harmonic content is introduced. The effect of harmonic content from excitation on the flux density waveform and iron losses is discussed.
