Abstract

This paper relates to the behavior of fire spread speed by the Fire Spread Model in an urban area. The model has two factors concerning the fire spread process, e.g. a sequential and a jumping fire spread. Using the model, the sequential fire spread speed is calculated by the method of computer simulation, and it becomes clear that the fire spread speed in an urban area has close relation to wooden building ratio, building coverage in objective area, and wind speed which has an effect on the jumping fire process. And the calculation method of fire spread speed without computer simulation is proposed.
