Abstract

Loading model tests and field tests were carried out on soft ground, in order to establish the design of a geotextile-reinforced base. The tests examined the application of the generally used bearing capacity based on Terzaghi's theory. It was found that the bearing capacity based on Terzaghi's theory is applicable for large deformations, while not suited for small ones, because it showed no reinforcement effect by the geotextile on the latter. Finally multi-layered elastic ground analysis was found to be effective on small deformation.
