Abstract
Rosalind Krauss remembers a trip to the caves of Ruffignac, Les Combarelles, and Pech Merle in France with Annette Michelson, made to celebrate the tenth anniversary of October magazine, which the two had founded in 1976. Krauss describes the significance of Michelson's interest in paleontology and her important translation of two chapters of André Leroi-Gerhoun's Prehistory of Western Art (published in October 37).
