Abstract

That medieval compilers collected multiple Arthurian romances is shown by the remarkable survival of The Awntyrs off Arthure. How this text was used and how it has survived provides insight into the wider literary and manuscript culture of Middle English romance and contextualizes the triumph of Malory's Le Morte Darthur.
