Abstract

ABSTRACT In this essay, I outline the circumstances and method that enabled me to produce the following autobiographical solo performance script, A Happily Married Man. I offer insight into: the anxieties that first blocked and then galvanized the stories, the compositional process that brought them to life, the masculinity they address, and the nomadic genres they travel through. Examining the script through these four points of entry is meant to validate the anxieties harbored by other would-be performers while offering a model for working through those concerns.
