Abstract

The Beckmann rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime has been carried out over boria modified pentasil type aluminosilicates with high SiO2/Al2O3 ratio and borosilicates with high SiO2/B2O3 ratio to elucidate the effects of acidity and acid strength on ε -caprolactam selectivity and catalyst deactivation rate, ε -caprolactam selectivity was dependent on the ratio of the concentration of weak acid sites to strong acid sites, whereas the catalyst fouling rate was dependent on the concentration of strong acid sites. The boria played important role in controlling the acid strength distribution of the zeolites.
