Abstract
Genome-wide association studies in ulcerative colitis point to a role for FcγRIIA, a receptor for IgG. Castro-Dopico etal. (2019) find a profound induction of anti-commensal IgG in the colonic mucosa of UC patients and outline a pathway whereby FcγR activation by IgG triggers IL-1β production, type 17 immunity, and the exacerbation of inflammation.
